Auto Attendant
The recorded greeting and the extensions behind it, which is how a business grows without collecting numbers.
How greetings workThe phone problem we see most often in Utah is not a technical one. It is that the company number is still a founder's mobile, three hires after that stopped being workable. This page is about building a number that survives the next two people you take on.

Business here moves by referral, and referral moves fast where customers, suppliers and competitors are within an hour of each other. A company goes from one person to four without ever holding a meeting about the phone.
What it looks like from outside is familiar. The number on the website is a mobile, owned by the person who can least afford to be interrupted. A second hire got a second cell number, which some customers have and others do not, so half your callers reach the wrong person and the rest reach somebody on holiday.
None of that is a call quality problem, which is why better phone service does not fix it on its own. What fixes it is one number belonging to the business, and the ability to decide who it reaches. VoIP is the cheapest way for a small company to get that, because the routing lives with the provider rather than in a box on your wall. The general case is on the main VoIP guide.
Utah numbers come from 801, 385 and 435. The first two sit over the same ground along the Wasatch Front, so a 385 rings the same streets an 801 does, and where two codes share an area everyone dials all ten digits regardless. A 435 is the code you tend to meet away from that corridor.
Two consequences follow, and they matter more than the digits themselves.
If your market is genuinely both, that argues for a toll-free number alongside the local one, or a second local number if you want to be read as part of that market. Both cases are worked through in business phone numbers.
To be plain about it: a VoIP phone system does not work differently in Utah than it does in Ohio or Oregon. Same call quality, same handsets, same app, same features in the same menus. There is no Utah edition of this product, and a provider implying there is has written a page rather than built anything.
The local parts are the ones this page is about: which number you hand out, who it reaches as you grow, and whether your connection can carry a call at the busiest hour of the afternoon.
Vehicles, invoices, the website, the listing. A second published number is a second thing to watch, and it is the one that gets ignored.
When somebody joins, they get a destination behind the same number instead of their own line. That is the difference between growing and accumulating. An auto attendant is what puts the choices in front of the caller.
Ring one person, then a second, then a mobile, then take a message. Deciding it takes ten minutes. Leaving it undecided is why enquiries vanish.
A business number only survives a staff change if the account, the billing and the password belong to the company rather than to one person.
Answering from wherever people actually are is covered on virtual phone system.
There is a genuine no here, and growth does not exempt you from it.
The reasons that apply anywhere, fax work, a line you are still paying off and whatever else is wired to that copper, sit on the main VoIP guide.
Not by anybody who is calling you. The two sit over the same ground, so a 385 rings the same streets an 801 does, and where two codes share an area everybody dials all ten digits anyway. Long-time residents may clock which is older. Nobody decides whether to call you on that basis.
Print the one that matches where the decision gets made. If customers out there are choosing between you and somebody based in their own town, a local presence helps and a corridor number is the thing you have to overcome. If they were always going to call the corridor for this kind of work, keep the corridor number and put the service area in plain words on the site and in the greeting.
It can usually be moved, but ask the provider to confirm before you cancel anything, and think about whether you want that number to become the company line. Once it is the business number, the business answers it, and personal calls arrive in the same place. Plenty of owners are happier taking a fresh business number and letting the old mobile quietly fade out of circulation.
These cover the same ground without the state attached.

A VoIP line runs over the internet, so there is no network to be at the edge of and no corner of the country where the service gets thin. That is why this map has no holes in it. The shading is not signal strength, it is how much has been written down: Utah has a guide of its own, and the darker states have a page for one or more of their cities as well.
Every state is linked. Business VoIP by state and city lists all fifty of them, and the 80 cities with a page, as ordinary links.
