Privacy Policy

What happens to your details when you use this website. It is a short list, because the site collects very little and measures nothing.

Draft, pending review. This page was written by reading what the website actually does. It has not yet been checked by a lawyer, so treat it as an honest description of the site rather than as final legal wording. If anything here matters to a decision you are making, ask us first.

Who this policy comes from

This website, aldomedia.net, is published by AldoMedia, LLC, 656 North French, Ste 2, Buffalo, NY 14228. Telephone 716-771-2536. We have been building and looking after small business websites since 1999.

AldoMedia is an independent provider and authorised reseller. Domains, hosting, business email and SSL are supplied through upstream partners, and we do not operate the domain registry, the certificate authority or the underlying product platform. This policy covers this website only. Once you move across to the storefront or to a partner's system, that system's own policy governs what happens there.

We do not publish an email address anywhere on this site, because published addresses get harvested and buried in spam. To reach us about anything on this page, use the contact form or call the number above.

The short version

  • The site sets one cookie, only on the contact page, and it disappears when you close your browser.
  • There is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party script of any kind.
  • The contact form reaches us by email. Nothing from it is stored in a database on this website, because there is no database.
  • We use what you send to answer your enquiry. We do not sell it, rent it, share it, or add you to a mailing list.

What the contact form collects

The form on the contact page is the only place on this site where you can type anything that reaches us. Here is every field on it and why it is there.

Every field on the contact form, and what it is for
Field Required Why we ask
Your name Yes So the reply is addressed to a person
Company No Context for the answer
Email Yes The address we reply to
Phone No For anything quicker to talk through than to type
Current website No So we can look at what you already have
Service of interest No Routes the enquiry to the right answer
Message Yes The question itself
Consent tick box Yes Your agreement that we may use the details to reply

The notification email we receive also records three things the form never asks you for: the time the message was sent, in UTC, the IP address the submission came from, and the address of the page the form was sent from. They are there so we can tell a genuine enquiry from an automated one, and so we can see which page prompted the question.

Where it goes

Contact submissions are delivered to us by email. This website has no database. If the form refuses a submission, because a field needs correcting or the session has expired, what you typed is held in your session on the server just long enough to put it back in the form for you, and is discarded after that. Once the message sends, what exists is the email in our mailbox and any reply thread that follows it.

How long we keep it

An enquiry stays in our mailbox for as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of any work that followed. We would rather say that plainly than publish a schedule we do not actually follow. If you would like your enquiry deleted, ask us. We will remove it unless we have to keep it as a business record of work we did for you, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Cookies

This site sets exactly one cookie, and only when the contact form is involved.

The only cookie aldomedia.net sets
Name Set when Lasts What it does
PHPSESSID On the contact page, and by the form handler Until you close your browser Carries the form's security token and the anti-spam timer

It is flagged Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, which means it travels over HTTPS only, cannot be read by scripts in the page, and is not attached to background requests made by other sites. It is not used for analytics or advertising and it cannot follow you anywhere. No other page on this site sets a cookie at all: you can read every guide here and nothing is stored on your device by us.

What this site does not run

Worth stating plainly, because it is unusual. There is no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Meta Pixel, no Microsoft Clarity, no reCAPTCHA, no web fonts loaded from someone else's servers, no content delivery network and no embedded video. There is no third-party script of any kind.

A page on this site loads one stylesheet and one JavaScript file, both from our own server. That is the whole list. It makes the pages fast, and it means there is very little for this policy to tell you about tracking, because there is none.

Spam protection, and your IP address

Three things protect the contact form from automated submissions: a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in, a timing check that catches a form submitted faster than anyone could type it, and a limit on how many messages can come from one address in a short period.

That last one is the only part that touches your IP address. The site takes a SHA-256 hash of the address and uses it as a filename, storing nothing in the file but a list of submission times. The directory sits outside the web root, so it is never reachable from the web, and entries older than an hour are discarded. The raw address is never written to disk by the site. It does appear in the notification email we receive, as described above.

Server logs

The company that hosts this website keeps standard server access logs, as every host does. Those logs are the hosting provider's, not ours, and their retention is not something AldoMedia controls.

Searching for a domain

The search box on this site does not look anything up by itself. When you type a name and press the button, your query is handed to our storefront at checkout.aldomedia.net, where the search actually runs. The query is not stored or logged by this website.

Links to other sites

Links from these pages go to three sorts of places: our storefront at checkout.aldomedia.net, our web design site at aldomedia.com, and our profiles on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.

All of them are plain links. Nothing from those services is embedded in these pages, which is why none of them can set a cookie or see you unless you click through. From the moment you land on another site, that site's privacy policy applies instead of this one. That includes the storefront: it is our shop, but it is a separate system with its own account, its own checkout and its own policy.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share the details from an enquiry.
  • We do not add anyone to a marketing list because they used the form. If you want to hear from us, you have to ask.
  • We do not build a profile of you, and we have not installed the tools that would let us.
  • We do not use enquiry details for advertising, on this site or anywhere else.

Asking for a copy of your enquiry, or asking us to delete it

Ask through the contact form or by phone. It helps to tell us roughly when you got in touch and the name and email address you used, since that is how we find the message. We may ask you something to confirm the enquiry is yours before we send anything back, because handing a stranger a copy of your message would be the opposite of privacy.

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over the information a business holds about you. We would rather point that out than claim a status we have not verified.

Children

This site is aimed at business owners, and nothing on it is directed at children. We do not knowingly collect details from children, and if we find that we have, we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

When the site changes, this page changes with it. The date near the top is the last time it was updated, so that is the line to check rather than assuming the wording is the same as when you last read it. We do not hold a mailing list, so we have no way to notify anyone of an update. The page is the notice.

Questions about any of this

If something here is unclear, or you want to know what we hold about you, get in touch through the contact form or call 716-771-2536. The other policies for this site sit together on the legal information page.

If you came here looking for how your own details appear in a domain's public registration record, that is a different subject with the same name. See domain privacy.
